WILLCONSULT was established in 2008 by David Williams whose career encompasses 35 years as a chief executive in the tourism, events and leisure industries in Australia and overseas.  The focus of consultancy services is to provide a niche ‘one stop shop’ to a range of Government and Industry organisations, including:

  • Event, Tourism and Leisure industry bodies
  • State and Local government
  • Not for profit organisations
  • Event organisers and owners

David has a Masters Degree in Education majoring in Sport and Leisure Management from the University of Virginia, USA, and his experience includes:

  • Establishing and managing national and state event agencies in Tasmania (Division of the Department of Sport and Recreation, 1986-1989), Queensland (Events Queensland, 1989-1993 and 1996-1998) and Scotland (EventScotland, 2003-2007)
  • President of the International Board of Governors, World Masters Games (IMGA 1992 – 1995)
  • Director General for nine years of Queensland government departments including Tourism, Sport, Racing, Liquor Licensing and Fair Trading
  • Conducting a range of major reviews and consultancies, including:- Performance reviews of tourism and event agencies
    - Independent reviews of major events
    - Governance, management and performance reviews
    - Feasibility studies
    - Provision of third party expertise to help secure international events
    - Business reviews
